Ellen L. Knott

Ellen L. Knott, 73 of Oakwood, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at her residence. Born Saturday, February 19, 1944 in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Rose Kleiman. Ellen moved to the Woodrow section of Staten Island in 1995 and settled in Oakwood in 2004 upon her marriage to her husband, Jack. Ellen had many hobbies, some of which included reading and watching her favorite movies. She also enjoyed going to the theatre and dinners with Jack. She was a dedicated homemaker all her life, raising her three boys who she was very proud of. In later years, she volunteered as a school reading instructor for over 11 years with the Staten Island Public School System. She and Jack were very proud of the fact that she actually wrote childrens' books Ellen was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who cherished time spent with her family. She never missed a birthday, and was always certain to express her love with little red hearts drawn on the cards she sent. She also adored her pet cats and her dog, Rusty. Ellen was predeceased by her first husband, Mitchell Darryl Snyder, and her second husband, Thomas Joseph Daly. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jack; her children, Rick Brian Snyder (Beth), Dean Scott Snyder (Laurette), Thomas Daly (Michele); her step-children, Raymond Knott (Laura), Mariette McBride (Michael), Danielle Marziliano (Jack) and Brendan Knott (Askim); her brother, Ira Martin Kleiman (Maureen); her grandchildren, Grace Snyder, Nathaniel Snyder, Juliette Rose Snyder, Darrien Nicholas Snyder, Bryton Alexander Snyder, Sabrina Marziliano, Melinda Marziliano, Jack Marziliano, Nicholas Knott, Dominick Marziliano, Yasemin Knott, Annagrace Marziliano and Brendan Knott. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Kerry and Tim Kleiman. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station) Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Beth Moses Cemetery, West Babylon, NY. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
