Frances Johnson

Frances Johnson, 67, of Staten Island, New York, passed away on Saturday May 13, 2023 at Staten Island University Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born Frances Squicciarini she was raised in Brooklyn, and moved to Staten Island in 1986 with her family. She attended New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, and graduated with Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from The College of Staten Island. She previously worked as a medical biller at Methodist Hospital before becoming a dedicated homemaker and amazing mother to her two sons. In 1972, she met Hansel Johnson, and they were married in 1980. They gave birth to their first son Michael in November of 1980, and her second son Christopher in March of 1991. She was a jack of all trades as she managed her home life with her schooling and everything in between. Not only did Frances excel in school, she loved teaching and playing with her children, Michael and Christopher, and eventually grandchildren Michael and Josefina. She always supported her family and friends and encouraged them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was a lifelong friend, other parents met through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, her many nieces and nephew, or her grandchildren in their many extra curricular activities such as soccer games and gymnastics, she made it her mission to enrich and improve the lives of others. Frances immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She was a joyful presence with her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and bubbly personality. She loved her yearly trip to Villa Roma Resort with family and loved all things Disney. She loved her friends and family, and filled her home with warmth and kindness. Frances was preceded in death by her parents Josephine and Michael Squicciarini, and Nephew Andrew Ahern. She is survived by her husband Hansel Johnson, her first son Michael and daughter in law Dayna, her second son Christopher and daughter in law Christine, and her grandson Michael Johnson and granddaughter Josefina Johnson. Her sisters Isabelle (Andrew) Ahern, Michele Squicciarini and brother Frank (Michele) Squicciarini, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation which she strongly supported. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10312 from 2pm to 7pm on Sunday, May 21, 2023, A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am Monday, May 22, 2023 at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 4747 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10312. If possible we ask that you wear vibrant blues to surround her with her favorite color.
