It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Howard Brown, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 70. Howard was born on December 27, 1955, in the vibrant community of Staten Island, NY, to his parents, Howard Brown and Lydia Leiser. Howard was a man of integrity and honor who spent his early years in Staten Island a place he always held close to his heart. Following his education, he answered the call of duty and served his country with pride and dedication as a member of the United States Navy. This noble chapter of his life was marked by camaraderie and a steadfast commitment to his fellow servicemen values he carried with him throughout his life. Howard's life was enriched by his love for life's simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, spending countless serene hours by the water, where he found peace and solace. Those who shared these moments with him remember his patience and joy in the quiet pursuit, always eager to teach and share his love of fishing with others. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan, finding excitement and joy in every race. Family was the cornerstone of Howard's life. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He is survived by his two daughters, Gina Lafer and Alyssa Dash, whom he cherished deeply. His love for them was immeasurable, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and the beautiful families they have built. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Brian Lafer and Steven Dash, who became like sons to him in every way that mattered. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Brown. Though she passed before him, the legacy of their enduring partnership remains in the hearts of all who knew them. Howard's greatest joy came with the arrival of his grandchild, Landon, who became the light of his life. Though their time together was too brief, the love and wisdom he shared will continue to guide and inspire. Howard is also lovingly remembered by his longtime partner, Joanne Rapuano, who shared many years of companionship, care, and meaningful moments with him. Their time together brought comfort and happiness, and she remained a devoted presence in his life. As we remember Howard, we celebrate a life well lived one filled with love, laughter, and devotion to those he held dear. His legacy will live on through his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memory of his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. May Howard Brown rest in eternal peace, reunited with his wife Toni, and forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Family and friends are asked to gather on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Services 28 Eltingville Blvd. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home, Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors.
