Jean was born on March 21, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Peter and May Orlando. Her journey through life was marked by unwavering love and devotion to her family and an enduring spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Jean's life was a beautiful testament to selflessness, generosity, and kindness. She was a devoted mother to her children and their spouses, Debbie, Donald, Diane, Dawn, Kevin, Danny, and Celeste, who were the center of her universe. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren, John,(Elaina), Desiree,(Rob), Steven, Jamie, Matthew, and Emma May (Nicholas). She was also a doting great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, John, Ava, Leo, Olivia, Mia, Severus, and Christian. A woman of varied interests, Jean found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid movie watcher with a particular fondness for cheering on the New York Yankees. Her creative spirit shone through in her love for coloring and drawing, and she delighted in the occasional trips to Atlantic City and playing Bingo. Jean's kitchen was a place of experimentation and love, as she enjoyed watching cooking shows and trying out new recipes, always eager to share her culinary creations with family and friends. Jean's love for babies was a defining trait, and she was known for taking the utmost care of them, offering a warm embrace and a nurturing touch to the youngest members of her family and community. Her legacy of love and care will be remembered by all who were fortunate to feel her gentle presence. A service to celebrate Jean's remarkable life will be held on August 6, 2026, at 6 PM to 9 PM at Scalia Funeral Home, located at 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York 10312. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a woman whose life was a testament to love and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Jean Vitale. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to the well-being of children make this a fitting tribute to her enduring legacy. Jean Vitale will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. Her spirit of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends, as they cherish the beautiful memories of her extraordinary life.
