John V. Cirino

John Vincent Cirino, 81, of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026 and left many memories of a life well lived. Born in Brooklyn, New York, John spent more than 45 years as a proud resident of Staten Island. He was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Cirino and was known throughout his life for his dedication to family, service, and public duty. In 1965, John was drafted into the United States Army and faithfully served his country until 1967. During his military service, he received specialized training in court reporting and stenography, skills that would shape the course of his professional life. Following his honorable discharge, John continued a lifetime of public service through his work for the State of New York and the City of New York. As a stenographer and court reporter, he served with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail, earning the respect of colleagues and all who knew him. His commitment to the judicial system reflected his strong work ethic and sense of civic responsibility. Above all else, John cherished his family. He is survived by his sister, Angela Cirino of St. Simons, Georgia, and his brother, Fr. André Cirino, O.F.M. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews: Jessica Cirino, Samantha and Stephen Theus, Dana Corraini, and Ralph and Kathleen Iorio. John leaves behind a cherished legacy in his great-nieces and great-nephews: Cole, Jack, and Emma Corraini, Knox and Isabella Theus, River Godbee, and Sydney, Foster, and Greyson Iorio, along with many other loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was also the devoted companion of his beloved terrier, Pebbles, whose loyal friendship brought him great comfort and joy throughout the years. John will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering sense of duty, devotion to family, and the kindness he extended to those around him. His life was a testament to service both to his country and to his community and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Boulevard, Staten Island, New York. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, Staten Island, New York. Burial will follow at the Cemetery of the Resurrection, Staten Island. The family respectfully requests privacy following the burial as they gather together to remember and celebrate John’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of John V. Cirino to Santa Chiara Children’s Center, an orphanage and school established and supported by Secular Franciscan Gerald Straub.
