John P Vachon, Sr.

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of John ''Jac'' Vachon Sr, who passed away on December 12th, 2024, at the age of 79. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his children John Vachon Jr. and wife Andrea and Jill Witcoski and husband Chuck Witcoski, and his three grandchildren, Carolyn Vachon, John Vachon III, and Lindsay Vachon. Jack was the dear brother of Donald Vachon and his sister-in-law, Dolly, sister Pat and his brother-in-law Jim, sister Valerie and deceased sister Michele. Sister-in-law Marie Goffredo and brother-in-law Albert Burlando also deeply mourn him, along with his extended family and friends, who were blessed to see his remarkable presence. Though Jack is no longer with us, his memory will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him. Jack was a retired NYPD police officer in Manhattan and later in his career at the 122 Precinct in Staten Island. During that time, he also worked at Pal Joey's Restaurant and Pizzeria. Post retirement he worked at Scalia Home for Funerals. In his free time, he could always be found in the stands at his grandson John's sporting events, Carolyn's dance recitals, and Lindsay's dance recitals and lacrosse games. He was an avid Yankee and Jets fan, coached baseball at Great Kills Little League and enjoyed his time visiting the Jersey shore, especially Atlantic City. He was always up for road trips to his grandchildren's respective colleges and spending time with his daughter Jill and son John. He cherished his time with his family and friends and was a man with a larger-than-life personality and a heart full of love. His sense of humor was boundless. Jack leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and joy that will be remembered forever. His spirit will continue to shine through his family and friends, and his memory will live on in the many moments of happiness he brought to those around him. Jack/Dad/Pop-Pop, you will forever be the light in our hearts. A Funeral service will be at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, December 17 th at St. Thomas The Apostle Church located at 6135 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, New York. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
