Marie G. De Meyer

Marie DeMeyer, a cherished resident of Great Kills, Staten Island, passed away at the age of 78. She was a devoted wife to Lenny, her partner of over 30 years, and a beacon of love and guidance to her daughters, Suzanne and Jaclyn DeMeyer. Her legacy extends through her adored grandchildren, Leonardo and Lorenzo, whom she doted on with immeasurable affection. Marie�s life was woven with unwavering kindness, warmth, and a nurturing spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a wise woman who knew every answer on Jeopardy. Her love and knowledge of music was unparalleled. Her love for her family was boundless, and her home was always a haven of laughter, comfort, and homemade meals especially her famous Spinach Pie that she shared with love. Born on May 27, 1945, Marie grew up in Borough Park Brooklyn, where she cultivated a deep appreciation for her community, family values, and the simple joys in life, getting fresh bread from the local bakeries and playing stick ball in the streets. She attended the prestigious St Michael�s Academy in Manhattan. She worked as an assistant to the Vice President of Chase Manhattan Bank until she decided to raise her family and move to Staten Island in 1978. Once her children were grown she returned back to work at SIUH until she retired. Her dedication to her family was utmost priority and her presence will be profoundly missed by her relatives, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marie enjoyed dinners with her friends. She loved to dance and sing Doo-Wop music - always knowing every word to every song. She most enjoyed spending tine with her family and playing with her grandchildren. She always dressed to impress and loved to decorate her home. Marie�s love knew no bounds, and her memory will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those she leaves behind. In honoring her life, let us cherish the lessons she imparted and the enduring love she shared with everyone around her. A memorial service will be held at St Clare�s Church in remembrance of Marie�s remarkable life, celebrating the immense impact she made on those fortunate enough to have called her wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at St Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
