Mark A. Harris

On, December 14, 2020, at 62 years of age, the Lord called Mark A. Harris of Staten Island, NY, home to rest. A devoted fiance', brother, uncle, god-parent and friend, he will be missed. Mark graduated from Queen's Day Prep High School in 1977 and continued his education at St. John's University. While there, he began his love of photography while working for the school newspaper and yearbook staff. He then enrolled in the Germain School of Photography, where he graduated. In July of 1984, Mark became a New York City Police Officer, working in the Transit Division. He protected the city that he loved for many years, including on September 11, 2001. He retired from the force in 2004 after 20 years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed being part of the Staten Island Camera Club. He photographed weddings and special events. Mark was a wonderful person and had a strong spirit that affected the life of everyone he came in contact with. He is survived by his devoted fiance' April, sister Susan, brother-in-law Dwayne, nephew Jonathan and stepson Joseph. He will also be mourned by family, god-children and friends The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 30 person in room policy is in effect, as well as a maximum of 100 people permitted in Church. Please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well. Due to the current pandemic circumstances please note: We do not accept deliveries from outside vendors for bakery products, fruit baskets, and floral arrangements until further notice. Floral Arrangements can be purchased from our in house floral designers who work under the most stringent sanitary conditions which include temperature checks, mask wearing, distancing and protective clothing.
