Michael Rizzi

Michael Rizzi, 73, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Staten Island University Hospital North. Born Thursday, January 1, 1948, in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe Rizzi and the late Serafina Chiechi Rizzi. Michael met the love of his life, Paola Canzio, in 1968 when he wa 20 and she 16. Two year later they married and immigrated to the U.S., first setting in Queens for a short time and then to Boro Park, Brooklyn, where they raised their three children. Michael was a printer by trade, working for more than 45 years in the business. He worked in Manhattan and New Jersey and retired approximately 2013. He enjoyed the simple things in life, like watching soccer games, rooting on his home team, Bari, and watching the Italian Channel on T.V., which he did on a daily basis. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always willing to tell a good joke, and no matter good times or bad, Michael always had a smile on his face. He was an extremely generous man, always lending a helping hand to others, whether it be opening his home to someone in need or just simply giving someone a good meal, he was always there with an open door to his home and heart.. Above all, Michael was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family. Family was very important to him and always was his priority, especially spending time with his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to Paola Rizzi. Loving father to Serafina Rizzi-Nagora, Giuseppe Rizzi and Maria Rizzi-Mormino. Fond father-in-law to Robert Nagora, Carmela Ingravallo and Ronnie Mormino. Devoted grandfather to Christopher Michael Nagora, Paula Marie Nagora and Samantha Mary Mormino and Michael Thomas Mormino. Dear brother to Anna Colartori, Saverio Rizzi and the late Teresa Lasito and Nicola Rizzi. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Funeral Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home.
