Michael S Tortorella, 93 of Staten Island, New York died on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Staten Island University Hospital North in Staten Island, New York. Born Thursday, December 29, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Salvatore Tortorella and Ida Bruno. He was the husband of Anna Lanza Tortorella. Michael served in the US Army during the Korean War. He served as a Private First Class from 1946 until 1947, when he was honorably discharged. was a member of the VFW and had many friends he looked forward to spending time with. He married the love of his life Anna M Lanza on October 16, 1954 at St. Bernadette�s Church in Brooklyn. Michael worked as a plumber on new homes and later for various businesses. He was a talented handyman, who was always willing and fixing broken items for his family. He had a great sense of humor and ability to make everyone smile, and that is something he will always be remebered for. In his spare time, Michael loved doing puzzles, gardening, playing Bingo, trips to Atlantic City, and going on cruises with his family. Above all else, he loved, most of all, being with his family. Michael is survived by his beloved wife Anna, his loving children Ida and Kevin Coohill, Anne and John Perchiacca, and Michael and Kim Tortorella. He was the beloved Poppy to his 6 grandchildren � Tara Igneri, Allison Murello, Joseph Perchiacca, Anne Marie Wilkie, Lynn Burt, and Kimberly Tortorella and a loving great-grandfather to 8 great grandchildren� Kayla, Chloe, Jax, Briella, Audrianna, Angelina, John and Gabriella. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A New York State decision that those who are vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks. However, our staff who have serviced over 350 covid funeral services safely will wear masks to protect those who have not been vaccinated or those who feel uncertain and our own families.
