Nellie T. Galasso

On May 7, 2026, the world lost a remarkable soul and cherished spirit, Nellie T. Galasso, who passed away peacefully at the age of 100. Born on October 6, 1925, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Nellie was the beloved daughter of Maurice and Margaret Green. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Denis Greene, and her sisters, Kae Godwin and Rosemary Clever, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Together, they shared countless memories that stayed with her throughout her life. On December 30, 1945, Nellie married her longtime sweetheart, Charles Galasso. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jeanne D"Angelo, and her son-in-law, Robert D"Angelo, who was a son to her in every way that mattered. She was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Miller, and her son, Charles Galasso Jr., who died shortly after birth. Despite these profound losses, Nellie remained a pillar of strength and resilience for her family. Her legacy continues through her five beloved grandchildren: Kristine, Theresa, Margaret (Margie), Michael, and Christopher, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was also deeply loved by her grandchildren"s spouses: Kristi, Christopher, and Megan. Nellie cherished her time with her nine great-grandchildren. Whether playing games with the boys or donning a hat for tea parties with the girls, she was delighted to be with them. They were the apple of her eye, and she loved Jason, Gary, CJ, Michael (Mikey), Samantha, Francesca, Charlotte,Christopher and Christian. Nellie"s professional journey was marked by dedication and diligence. She spent many years working in Manhattan for a brokerage firm near Battery Park, contributing her remarkable work ethic and attention to detail. Later, she relocated to Pennsylvania, where she worked for the Department of Transportation for approximately 15 years. Her colleagues remember her as a compassionate and hardworking individual who made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Nellie will be honored in a memorial service on May 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Scalia Funeral Home, located at 28 Eltingville Boulevard. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a woman who touched so many with her kindness, wisdom, and grace.
