Paul Amodio

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Amodio, who left this world on July 2, 2026, at the age of 66. Paul was born on March 1, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, and was surrounded by the love of his family as he peacefully departed after a long-fought battle with colon cancer. Paul was the beloved son of the late Louis Amodio and Lucy (Gloria) Amodio. He was preceded in death by his cherished brother, Louis Amodio. He leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings Theresa Cosenza, Vincent, and Dominick, his brother-in-law Steve Cosenza, sister-in-law Rosemarie Amodio, and his dear nieces and nephews Christina, Thomas, Joseph, Michael, Louis, and Dominick Jr., as well as his great-nephew Rocco. Raised in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, Paul was a graduate of John Jay High School. His working life began at a young age, delivering the Daily News. After high school, he embarked on a career with the Board of Education, where he faithfully served as a delivery driver for all 5 Boroughs, for 30 years. His dedication to his work was evident when he came out of retirement in 2005, to devote an additional 15 years of service to the Board of Education in Staten Island as a cleaner at IS 75 before retiring again. Even after retiring a second time, Paul's industrious spirit continued as he delivered pizzas for Kingdom Cafe Pizzeria. Paul was a proud 45-year member of the 32BJ Union, a testament to his commitment and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, he was a man of many interests. In his younger days, he was active in the CB Radio community, and he held a deep love for baseball, particularly as a devout New York Yankees fan. His fascination with fish tanks and his affection for dogs, especially his sister's dog, brought him much joy. Paul's love for hamburgers and pizza was well known among his friends and family. Paul's personal qualities were as remarkable as his varied interests. A gentle giant with an open heart, Paul was known for his honesty and integrity. One of his oldest friends fondly remembers meeting Paul nearly 60 years ago, and the friendship that blossomed from a simple knock on the door. Paul had a unique ability to make friends feel like family, engaging in long conversations on the stoop with neighbors and bonding over baseball discussions. His gentle nature and genuine character left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Even as distance separated him from friends who moved away, Paul maintained those bonds through cherished memories and shared stories. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, July 6, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass to honor Paul's life will be held on July 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Holy Child Church, located at 4747 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10312. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to A Very Special Place, an organization dear to Paul's heart. Paul Amodio will be so deeply missed but warmly remembered by all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of friendship, kindness, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
