Phyllis Gelormino

Phyllis Gelormino, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend, has passed away, leaving a profound mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Phyllis eventually made her home in Staten Island, where she built a life centered around her family with laughter, and love. After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Phyllis earned an Associate's Degree from Brooklyn College. She spent many years working for the city in Vital Records and touched the lives of the community�s youngest members as the teacher of the first-ever preschool class at Holy Child Parish. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, reflected in her 50-plus years as a devoted parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Phyllis lived a vibrant life. She was an avid reader and cherished her weekly mahjong games, a tradition kept alive with lifelong friends. She and her devoted husband of 62 years, Gene, were inseparable travel companions, journeying to Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, Aruba, the Bahamas, Lake Tahoe, and San Francisco, as well as enjoying frequent trips to Atlantic City. Phyllis�s greatest gift was her open heart. She had a unique ability to connect with people, always eager to hear their stories and share in their joys. She was reunited in heaven with her parents, Louise and Eddie Farone; her brothers, Edward and Michael; and her dear cousin, Rosalie Cullen. Her legacy of love lives on through her husband, Gene; her children, Louis (Janine) Gelormino, Edward (Rosanne) Gelormino, Lisa (John) Munson; and her adored grandchildren, Louis, Edward, John, Paul and Angela. Phyllis treasured her family beyond measure. While she will be deeply missed, her wisdom, guidance, and enduring love will continue to guide and inspire her children and grandchildren for generations to come. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
