Rosemarie Capozzi

Rosemarie Capozzi, 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Staten Island University Hospital South. Born Sunday, November 3, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Michael Fruciello and the late Julia Mayo Fruciello. Her life dramatically changed when her mother passed away when she was 15 years old. Rosemarie became the lady of her house, cooking and running her home for her father while simultaneously attending high school. Despite hardship, her social life continued to blossom, frequently going out with friends to dance at the Knights of Columbus. When Rosemarie arrived, the piano player would play one of her favorite songs as a cue for her to join him singing for her neighborhood friends. Her love of singing and dancing continued throughout her life. Rosemarie met Alfred Capozzi in 1955 and instantly bonded over music and dancing as a common love. They danced together for the rest of their lives at every opportunity. Their passion for dancing was infectious; a crowd would always gather to watch and cheer them on at social gatherings, events, and on the decks of cruise ships in their travels around the world. Rosemarie's first job was at an insurance company. Then she returned home to raise her family before becoming a Saleswoman at Sears. She was known for her honesty and sincerity among customers. The last and most rewarding position Rosemarie held was a Receptionist and Medical Assistant at The Nalitt Institute for Cancer. She was loved by her patients for greeting them with a smile on her face, kind words, and a song. She loved her job, continuing there past retirement age. Rosemarie was the beloved wife of 64 years to Al Capozzi. Loving mother to Lorayne Capozzi, Barbara Cialdella and her husband, Philip, and Christopher Michael Capozzi. Devoted grandmother to Laine and Louis Cialdella. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Avenue Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
