Yolanda Augelletta

Yolanda Augelletta, of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home, on August 28, 2025, at the age of 89. She was a loving and compassionate woman who touched the lives of all who knew her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Yolanda was born in Modica, Italy in 1936 to Mary and Giuseppe Cavallo. She was the youngest of five children. Despite living in Italy during WWII, Yolanda always talked about the wonderful times she shared with her niece Stella, as they grew up together like sisters. In 1953, Yolanda moved to the United States at the age of 17. She worked as a seamstress in the garment district while trying to learn the English language. She loved going to the theatre, Radio City, and shopping in Lord and Taylor on 5th Ave. In 1959, she married her husband Joseph and they had three children. Yolanda was a stay at home mom who loved to take care of her family and cook delicious meals for them. In 1972, at the age of 36, Yolanda lost her beloved husband, leaving her with three young children to raise on her own. Despite this immense loss, she persevered with grace, raising her children with a heart full of love and dedication, always putting them before herself. When her children were older, Yolanda took a job as a deli clerk at Waldbaum's and she worked for over 30 years until she retired at the age of 75. Yolanda was a stylish dresser and she always looked beautiful. She loved to cook for her family and for anyone who walked into her house. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in her children, Patricia Tisellano (married to Frank), Debra Cuoccio (married to Robert), and Anthony, all of whom were the center of her world. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Frank (Casie), Kristina (Luis), Natalie, and Robert, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Dante and Luca, whose smiles always brought her joy. Yolanda was a beacon of resilience, nurturing those around her with a quiet strength that became a cornerstone for her family. She was deeply proud of the lives her children and grandchildren built, and her love for them was a constant source of inspiration. Her humor and quick wit constantly made everyone laugh whenever she was around. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will be forever missed. Funeral Services will be held at Scalia Funeral Home on Eltingville Blvd in Staten Island on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. A funeral mass will take place at St. Clare's Church on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, followed by her burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
